Mettie did so well through the night that they took out her ventilator tube this morning! They also gave her another dose of caffeine this morning. The goal is to have her breathing on her own and start feeds on milk before she goes through her open heart surgery. (The date is yet to be determined)
She seems to be tolerating being off the ventilator and just having the nasal cane. The respiratory nurses continue to suction her to help her breath a little better.
Jay spent the day with Mettie and me at the hospital. He also took
his turn reading to her and loving when she would open one eye for him. He has so much love for her. It's hard to see their 12 day old sister hooked up to so many things.
