Mettie's nurse had to be by her side most of the night.  Mettie required a lot of suctioning and was so tired from working so hard to breathe.  It is the worst watching her struggle for something we take for granted, a breath.  Two doctors tried to get the breathing tube down her airway but it was too swollen.  They had an ICU specialist come and use an even smaller tube.  They were able to get it down and into place.

Mettie had to go under anesthesia for the ENT doctor to do a scope down her airway this afternoon.  It is very swollen and her heart is also pushing on her airway.

 They paralyzed her little body too for the scope.  She was exhausted and slept the rest of the day.
